Ryan - Hey, I'm Just an Active Guy

Ryan playing with balloons.
Seriously though, Ry - Mommy just looked & you have
one sock on and one sock off...AGAIN!

Hello! It has been 2 weeks since Ry's last blog. Since then, the Packers won the NFC championship, and Ryan has proved to be quite the active little fellow! He is "crawling" now if you want to call it that. The ladies in playgroup said that Ryan's movement is indeed crawling. I think he looks more like an actor in a WWII movie that has been shot and is crawling up Omaha beach.  He kind of drags himself with one arm usually pinned under his body with the other one grasping and raking himself forward.

We've made the last two MOMS Club playgroups.  Yesterday, our amazing 8-month old crawled-dragged himself over to Gabrielle's mommy and sorta begged for a piece of quesadilla.  He also took some puffs directly from Gabrielle's grasp during baby snacktime.  Last week, he screamed (well, he always squeals/screams with glee) in Samuel's face and made Samuel cry - twice.  The babies are starting to tussle over toys.  Pretty soon, the mommies ability to casually drink coffee and talk about our babies will end because we will be busy chasing them and breaking up disagreements over who gets the desired toy.

Finally, we are happy that Daddy made it home safely from his trip to Seattle.  Ry Ry the Superguy and his mommy miss Daddy when he's gone.  However, we kept busy with getting the living room/play area painted, visiting Ms. Monica and Bianca, going to our playgroups, having dinner with Ms. Patti, and crying over new teeth coming in soon. (Uggh...restless nights are here again - not that they have ever completely gone away...but we were down to one wake up a night).

Here are videos of Ry this week:
(1) Pony Ride:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmUZ1EUA3AU

(2) Watching my "baby TV" @ starfall.com (we do the alphabet and sounds after lunch or dinner pretty much everyday...it gives me time to clean up! -- he really likes the Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes song though):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwhK7wtHsv4

(3)  Playing with ballloons...these were not intended to become Ryan's toy of the day, but he was having so much fun. I think I will hold off on getting balloons again until his first birthday, but they did bring him a lot of joy last Sunday:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOqvEl1JxqM

Until next week...GO PACKERS!...Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY (GRANDMA) Sandy!

Ryan - Snow and Ice

SNOWPOCALYPSE IN GA

Ryan for the few moments he was outside on Day 1 of the Snowpocalypse
I titled this one Snow and Ice because of the big weather event we had on Sunday evening, but I should have titled it Fire and Ice because Ryan is on fire! His two bottom teeth are poking through, and he's getting quite skilled at picking up his own food.

He is also more emotional and has started a little separation anxiety and a preference for his mommy.  He cries when brought towards his bedroom for naps/bedtime and for some reason now cries when he is placed on the changing table.

As for Ryan's illness, he continues to cough and sneeze, and wiping his nose is loads of fun. (No, I am being sarcastic-trying to wipe his nose is not fun at all-he fights it big time, and we do it often).

Well, let's get right to why you come here - VIDEOS AND PICS of Ry Ry the Superguy!
Below are some special videos and pics from the last week.  I have included 3 non-Ryan videos for you to see the impact of the snow & ice on our lives.  It is very exciting for the Southerners, as we don't see this much in GA.

Ryan's videos (the reason you are all really here):

Here is our skillful son using his very special eating technique.  I think this is so cool.  Note...he prefers his left hand at this point:

Southereners sledding - this is the hill right across from our house - I did it! So fun, but not on this video that I was shooting:

Ike in the snow (sad, just sad...poor dog hates going out with or without his winter gear) - listen and you can here this person wipe out and fall on his back-I shout out to him during the video:

Cute pics from this week:
Playing with Daddy - he was work-from-homebound for 3 days because of terrible road condtions.  We have 11 plows for all of Atlanta, and one got stuck on the interstate...ha, ha. A slag truck with three men and shovels came to our street yesterday.  Whoo-hoo! Daddy did our driveway, of course!

Emptying my basket-one of my favorite things to do. I just pile it all up in my lap.

Too stinkin' cute-playing with Mommy in my tunnel.

Breakfast today - note his Cheerio mole.
Lunch today - Avocado on my face!!
All and all, an exciting week. Although "trapped" in our home for 3-4 days, we are doing well! We live in an awesome neighborhood with great friends (really, it is wonderful), and we continue to marvel at our son's rapid development and growth.  LOVE YOU ALL - STAY WARM!

Ryan - Sick!

Is this the face of a sick baby?  Ryan in one of his better moments this past week.
Looks like the New Year brought us a virus.  I am sure we're not alone.  As most of you know, Ryan was very sick this past week, but he is on his way to recovery. Right now he is resting, and he needs it. Thankfully, we are happy to report that he is feeling better.

Here is a short clip of Ryan during the height of his illness. In this video he does touch his ear, and I remark something about him possibly having an ear infection. He did.

Ryan's illness prevented me from uploading pictures and video from the holidays, so here are a few of each.

Ryan's Holiday Wrap Up

Daddy, Ryan, and Mommy in front of Mimmy's big tree
Ryan had a great Christmas and New Year! Ryan went to Florida and did very well in the car.  He had moments of fussiness, but hey, who wouldn't on such a long drive.  Thankfully, we left the evening of the 23rd at his bedtime, and he slept a lot of the way.  He was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when we arrived at the hotel room in Ocala, FL since he woke up during the transfer out of his carseat.  ...I don't think the people in the rooms next to us were very thrilled to hear him squealing and talking to 2:30am. But, at least it was happy noise, right?

While in Florida, Ryan got to meet his aunties, from CA, Sue and Jayne, his cousins-Sean, Brooke, and Caiden.  He also saw Bob, Rochelle, and the Poodles, Aunt Shari and family, Meghan, Keri B. & the girls, Uncle Chris and his children, and of course, the regulars-Mimmy, Pappy, and Nanny Ellie.

Ryan received lots of presents for Christmas.  He received a Laugh N' Learn kitchen and colorful stacking cups from Santa Claus & so many other gifts that it filled the entire back of the car. We couldn't have squeezed another thing in the car if we'd tried.

All and all, it was a fantastic Christmas spending time with family everyday, and I think Ryan really enjoyed himself.  He likes excitement, and this Christmas provided us with plenty of that.  Thankfully, we made it home safely from our trip. And a special thanks to Mimmy and Pappy for having us!

Ryan also went to dinner with us on New Year's Eve.  He was a hit as usual.  We went to Relish, and Ry Ry was pretty well-behaved even though he was in need of a nap.  He wore a cool houndstooth cap and one of his sweater-vests.  He had Chicken Pastina for dinner.  He also tried a Saltine while Mom and Dad were having their supper.  Ryan definitely enjoyed his time there because Mom got a BIG kiss when she picked him up out of the highchair when preparing to leave the restaurant.  That caused many an "AWWW" from other customers looking on. What a ham!

Well, everyone - no videos.  I have been trying to finish this post since 1/2/11, because I have wanted to upload some videos to youtube; however, I now cry uncle because I cannot do that right now. Ryan is very sick. On Sunday, he was quite clingy, and we thought separation anxiety. By Monday that had developed into a cough.  Yesterday we were away for 3 hours at the doctor's for a breathing treatment then driving around in the car, so he could get some sleep. Last night, he was crying every hour & by today he just looks miserable - and he vomited at dinner.  He is now asleep on Daddy in the glider.  Poor fellow.  Not a way we wanted to start the new year...but I am sure we aren't the only ones. Will post videos later.

We love you and wish you a VERY happy and blessed 2011! ~ Ryan, Mom and Dad ... and Ike too!
