Ryan - Trains and Toddler Milestones

Ryan playing with his trains on the ottoman
I almost titled this blog:  Can you say "Tchoot-tchoo Train?" because we hear lots about trains these days, but Ryan also got his first haircut yesterday, so this blog won't be all about trains since we have a milestone or two to report.

Ryan says "Tchoo-Tchoo Tr-ain," now and not just "toot-toot."  For months, all trains were toot-toots.  His "train" sounds like two syllables sometimes like, TR-ain. Not surprising, Ryan's first song solo is about a choo-choo train.  On Friday night while getting ready for bed he starts singing, "Chugga, Chugga, All Aboard the Choo-Choo Train, All Aboard the Choo-Choo Train, All Aboard, All Aboard..." When he sings, he leaves out the "the" because he doesn't use articles yet, that is why I crossed them out.  For those who do not know, this song is the intro to the Disney Channel's "Choo-Choo Soul."  Choo-Choo Soul is sorta like School House Rock, an animated, educational musical short. See link below.

Sitting on Daddy's lap for his first haircut
In addition to Ryan's song solo, Ryan had his first haircut on Saturday, 1/28.  Instead of reporting the event here in his blog, I will let you see for yourself with the 5 minute video! He doesn't have that much hair yet, so it took about 5 minutes for the whole haircut.  When he was finished, he enjoyed a lollipop and watching Daddy get his hair done. I am so glad that I recorded his first haircut because it is fun to see all his facial expressions.

VIDEOS:
First video: this is Ryan with his 2 new Thomas trains, Bert & 'Arry.  He was allowed to pick any train he wanted from Toys R Us a few weekends ago.  He had a generous gift card from Uncle Bob & Aunt Rochelle.  Ryan chose two diesels.  We had no idea who they were when he picked them, but Ryan loves them just the same.  The trains crack me up, because they have clefts in their chins, and Bert has a 5 o'clock shadow.  I suppose they are villans or tough guys.

This video shows Ryan as we entered the house with his trains. We walked in the door, and he immediately starts playing with them in that sweet way only little boys play when they get on the floor and watch wheels roll.

Second Video: First Haircut!

Ryan - The Holiday Season is Over - A New Year Begun!

The SE Puylearts at Dan and Sandy's house in Green Bay
Every year the holiday season blows by faster than Thomas the Tank Engine on his way back to Knapford Station. Seriously, the end of the year marches by so fast.  On September 28th, we celebrate Dave's birthday, at the end of October, it is my bday followed by Halloween one week later...next thing I know we are celebrating Thanksgiving then suddenly Christmas is upon us! It all wraps up with New Year's Eve, and the calendar changes, and we are in another year.  So today, I find myself nostalgic (yet again) and will post some pics and video of our trip to Green Bay to recall some of our wonderful Christmas memories.

Well, I had other nice pics of the family, but the portrait ones won't load the right way - they are loading sideways tonight. I took about 100 pics while we were there!! Loved capturing Ryan's fun time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  It was such a sweet & lovely white Christmas! I took a ton of video so that we have some memories in action. Please note there is dancing, lots of dancing.

Love to you all and Happy New Year! May 2012 be as wonderful and amazing as the past year was for our little family. We are so happy, thankful, & blessed!

Go Packers - Bring us another Superbowl in 2012!
